This gown is named after Caroline Herschel, a remarkable astronomer who became one of the first women to receive scientific recognition for her work.
The design of this dress is inspired by the famous Chemise à la Reine, a style that appeared in the late 18th century and quickly became one of the most recognizable silhouettes of the era.
Unlike earlier structured court gowns, the Chemise à la Reine introduced a softer and more natural silhouette, with flowing fabric and gentle shaping at the waist.
The dress is made from two layers of natural fabric.
Outer layer:
• silk batiste
Inner layer:
• 100% cotton
The light silk batiste creates a delicate, airy appearance, while the cotton underlayer provides comfort and opacity.
Together these fabrics create a dress that feels light, breathable and comfortable to wear.
Construction
Each garment is handmade, with seams sewn on a sewing machine to ensure strong and durable construction.
